A heartfelt welcome on board…

Now that you’ve joined the TT1 MBSR Teacher Training, it’s truly a joy to have you here with us, walking this shared journey together.

From the Mindful Academy Solterreno, we warmly welcome you into this space… and into our community of meditators and facilitators, as you begin this beautiful path of training as facilitators of MBSR 8-Week Courses.

As you begin this journey, we invite you to engage with the pre-course study, an important part of the training that will gently support your arrival into the depth and intention of what we will explore together.

Take your time with it, moving at a pace that feels steady and caring for you. We’re really happy to be walking this path together. 🌿

Your first step on the path to becoming an MBSR Teacher

This is the TT1 pre-course study. Ideally, it is to be started 7 weeks before the beginning of the TT1 training.

If you are joining later than this, we gently encourage you to do what you can, without adding pressure. If you have any concerns or need support, please feel free to contact

 M.A. Solterreno at submissions@mbsr.website.

1. Your Training Platform: A Map for the Journey Ahead

As you enter the platform, you will find a clear and supportive space designed to guide you step by step as you begin this journey.

We invite you to explore the platform with curiosity and ease, allowing it to gently support your arrival into the rhythm of the training.

Inside, you will find a range of resources to support your preparation:

  • The M.A. Solterreno manuals, including:
    • MBSR Core Practice Script
    • TT1 MBSR Manual (Intro)
    • Other essential documents to be explored before the training begins
  • Audio and video resources to accompany and deepen your personal practice
  • The course structure and schedule, offering a clear map of the journey ahead
  • Guidance and step-by-step instructions to help you move through the pre-course study with clarity and confidence
  • Additional supporting materials and documents connected to the training

Everything is organised to help you feel accompanied, grounded, and clear about what is needed at each stage.

Please refer to the section “Use of Materials and Intellectual Property” for guidance on how to work with these materials.

2. Daily Practice & Pre-Course Study

As part of your preparation for the TT1 MBSR Teacher Training, we invite you to establish a steady and committed rhythm of practice and study. This is a foundational aspect of the training and will support your embodied understanding of MBSR.

Daily Formal Mindfulness Practice (30–45 minutes)

From the moment of your acceptance until the start of TT1, you are expected to maintain a daily formal practice of 30–45 minutes, including:

  • 30 minutes of seated MBSR Mindfulness meditation
  • Using the provided MP3 recordings

You may notice that some of these practices feel different from those you are already familiar with. This is intentional. It is important to develop a direct experiential understanding of these specific MBSR practices before learning how to guide others.

Additional Practice

We also suggest complementing your daily practice with:

  • Mindful Movement or Mindful Walking, at least twice per week

3. Required Reading for TT1 Preparation

As part of your pre-course study, you are required to obtain and read the following two books:

  • Full Catastrophe Living – Jon Kabat-Zinn
  • The Heart of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: A MBSR Guide for Clinicians and Clients – Elana Rosenbaum

Please note that these books are not provided by us, so you will need to purchase them yourself in advance. You do not need to bring them to the training.

4. Final Steps Before TT1

In the final weeks leading up to TT1, you will be guided through additional steps within the pre-course study to help you arrive grounded, prepared, and connected to the intention of the training.

This period is an invitation… to land in the practice, to deepen your experience, and to begin embodying the foundations from which MBSR is taught
